Your first five minutes
Faneg keeps your own spending private and helps the people in your household split shared costs.
1. Try a personal expense
Open Add expense, choose Personal, enter a description, amount and date, then save. Only you can see it. Choosing a household does not turn your personal expenses into shared ones.
2. Invite someone to share with
Verify your email, then open Household. Create a shared space, open it and invite the other person's email. They must create their own account, verify that email and accept the invitation. A household with one member has nobody else to split with yet.
3. Add a shared expense
Choose the right household, then select Shared when adding an expense. Pick who paid and which members share it. Equal shares divide the total; custom amounts must add up to it. Example: you pay €40 for two people, split equally. Your spending includes €20 and the other person owes you €20.
4. Record a repayment
Settle up shows who owes whom. It does not move money. After the other person actually sends you €20, record them as sender and yourself as recipient. A repayment changes the balance; it is not another purchase.
What the overview means
Your spending = your personal expenses + your portion of shared purchases. Shared balance = amounts owed in the selected household, including recorded repayments. Budget remaining = this month's personal budget and extra income, less savings and spending. Budget is optional and set in Settings.
Receipts and reports
Uploading a receipt stores its image; it does not automatically record or scan a purchase. Add its items separately. Reports show your expenses for the chosen scope and dates.
Testing with another person
Each tester needs their own account. Do not share a password. A localhost address opens only on the computer running Faneg; remote testers need a separately configured test deployment with email delivery.
